Award Description

The Usha (“dawn” in Sanskrit) Award, sponsored by Y.S. Prakash, MD, PhD, editor-in-chief of the Comprehensive Physiology is awarded to two promising trainees. Criteria for selection will include the level of excitement regarding the nominee's future, contribution by the nominee to the work and the importance of their work to the field. Nominees are selected by the Respiration Section.

Eligibility

The applicant must:

  • be an undergraduate or graduate student or research fellow (no more than five years since being granted the terminal degree (e.g., PhD, MD, DO, DVM); and
  • be a first author of an abstract submitted to a Respiration Section topic category for presentation at the American Physiology Summit
Criteria

The application package includes:

  • a PDF for the first-author abstract  

Applications are only accepted via online submission.

 

 

Award at a Glance

Award amount: $500 plus reimbursement of the early registration fee to the American Physiology Summit and a ticket to the Respiration Section dinner
