Award amount: $1,000 + reimbursement of the advanced EB registration fee + a complimentary ticket to the Teaching Section banquet

Who Can Apply: Investigator in the early stages of his/her/their career, not above the rank of Assistant Professor or a comparable non-tenure track position at an academic institution (e.g., lecturer)  or in industry (e.g. Scientist, Research Investigator, etc.).

Past Awardees

Award Description

This award recognizes an outstanding early career investigator in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Candidates should be investigators who have made meritorious contributions to educational scholarship, the area represented by the Teaching of Physiology Section. The application should include letters of nominations from two regular members of the APS. Candidates will submit 3 examples of scholarly work in the area of teaching and learning: at least 1 publication in a peer-reviewed journal, and up to two additional publications or presentation abstracts (may be poster or oral). Applications will be judged on their publications and scholarly activity, how the publications and scholarly activities relate to the Teaching of Physiology Section, and evidence for independence and promise as demonstrated by their CV (grant funding, peer review activities, participation in Teaching Section-related activities such as the Institute for Teaching and Learning, etc.).

 

Eligibility
  • APS Member with a primary, secondary, or tertiary affiliation in the Teaching of Physiology Section

Applicants will be asked to submit the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Nomination Letter from 2 APS Members
  • Peer-Reviewed Publication Reprint
  • Publication Reprint or Presentation Abstract
  • Publication Reprint or Presentation Abstract

  • Abstract Number for poster submitted to a Teaching Section poster session at EB 2020
  • Abstract First Author’s Full Names
  • PDF of Abstract Submissions
