Award Description

The Environmental & Exercise Physiology (EEP) Section New Investigator Award recognizes an outstanding investigator in the early stages of their career who has made meritorious contributions to the areas of environmental, exercise, thermal or applied physiology and has contributed as a collegial citizen of the EEP and/or scientific community.  

Eligibility

Applicant must:

  • be an APS member with primary affiliation with the EEP section; and
  • be an assistant professor or hold a comparable position in a research track at an academic institution or in industry (e.g., scientist, sr. scientist, research investigator) 

Criteria

The application materials consist of:

  • curriculum vitae, 
  • two nomination letters from a regular APS member (nomination letter must address criteria for the award, i.e., meritorious contributions and collegial citizen of EEP and/or scientific community), and 
  • three publication reprints

Applicants may also submit a PDF of their American Physiology Summit abstract with the abstract number and first author's full name included. Abstract submission is optional, not required. The EEP Section Awards Committee reserves the right to contact colleagues and/or former trainees for character references.
