Award Description

The Julius H. Comroe Jr. Distinguished Lectureship of the American Physiology Society (APS) Respiration Section is awarded to an outstanding contributor to the disciplinary areas of physiology represented by the Respiration Section. The recipient is selected by the Section for their exceptional contributions within the discipline. Lecturers must also have a strong track record of service to APS and to the Respiration Section.

Eligibility

The nominee must:

  • be a regular APS member 
  • have made a novel contribution to respiratory physiology in the fields of lung biology, the control of breathing or another respiration-related area; and
  • demonstrate a strong record of service to the Respiration Section and the Society.

Criteria

The nomination package consist of:

  • nomination letter which describes the nominee's accomplishments,
  • three relevant publications, and
  • description of the nominee's service history.

This award is based on nominations from the membership. The recipient is selected by members of the Respiration Steering Committee. 

 

 

Award at a Glance

Award amount: $1,000 plus up to $2000 for travel expense reimbursement, reimbursement of the early registration to the American Physiology Summit and a complimentary ticket to the Respiration Section banquet.
