Award Description
The American Physiological Society (APS) Central Nervous System Section (CNS) New Investigator Award recognizes an outstanding investigator in the early stages of their career. Candidates should be investigators who have made meritorious contributions to the area represented by the CNS Section.
Applicants will be judged on their publications and scholarly activity, the works relatedness to the CNS section and evidence for independence and promise as shown by their application materials and letters of nomination. Recipients will receive a monetary award and complimentary registration to the American Physiology Summit.
Eligibility
The applicant must:
- be an APS member with CNS affiliation; and
- not be above the rank of assistant professor or comparable position in a research track at an academic institution or in industry (e.g. scientist, senior scientist, research investigator, etc.)
Criteria
The application package includes:
- curriculum vitae
- up to two nomination letters, and
- up to three publication preprints
Optional materials include:
- abstract number
- name of first author on the abstract, and
- PDF copy of the abstract submission.
Please note that materials in excess (e.g., inclusion of extra letters beyond two required letters) will be excluded from evaluation.
There is no limit on the number of times an applicant may apply for the CNS Section New Investigator Award. However, each applicant is eligible to win this award only once.
Award recipients are expected to attend the American Physiology Summit and give an oral or poster presentation.
