Award Description

The John S. Fordtran Gastrointestinal and Liver Section Distinguished Research Award recognizes an outstanding investigator who is internationally recognized for their contribution to research in areas represented by the Section. This award was formerly known as the Gastrointestinal & Liver Section Distinguished Research Award. 


Eligibility

The candidate must:

  • be an APS member
  • be established member (professor rank)
  • have contributed to gastrointestinal and liver physiology research.
Criteria

The application package consists of:

  • curriculum vitae and
  • a nomination letter.

Candidates for this award are judged based on their curriculum vitae, including funding, publication record and service to the APS, and the quality of the content of a nomination letter.

Awardees will be recognized at the Gastrointestinal & Liver Physiology Section Banquet at the American Physiology Summit where they are expected to deliver an after-dinner talk at the section Banquet and Business Meeting.

Applications are only accepted via online submission.

 

 

Award at a Glance

Award amount: $1,000, reimbursement of the early registration fee to the American Physiology Summit, and complimentary admission to the Gastrointestinal & Liver Section banquet.
