Renal Section Mid-career Achievement Award

Award Description

The Renal Section Mid-career Achievement Award recognizes an outstanding mid-career investigator pursuing research in renal physiology, pathophysiology or hypertension. Candidates will be judged based on their nomination letters, evidence of independent publications, funding, mentorship and service to the research community.

The recipient will be recognized at the American Physiology Summit. They will select abstracts, serve as a chair and give a lecture at the Renal Section Mid-career Achievement Award Foundational Science Session. The awardee will be invited and strongly encouraged to write a review to be published in the American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology.

Eligibility

At the time of application the nominee must:

• be an APS member in good standing with a primary Renal Section affiliation,
• be less than 20 years beyond earning their terminal doctoral degree,
• hold the rank of Associate Professor or above,
• have published original work in the American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology in the past five years as the first or last author.

Recipients of the Renal Section Young Investigator Award are not eligible to apply for this award.

The application package includes:

• curriculum vitae
• Two nomination letters from APS members. At least one letter must be extramural to the applicant’s institution.

Criteria

The recipient of the Renal Section Mid-career Achievement Award will be selected by the Renal Section Mid-career Award Committee. The committee is comprised of the Renal Section treasurer and three Program Working Group representatives.
