American Physiological Society members of the Nutrition Physiology Research Interest Group are part of an active community of nutrition physiologists who are passionate about the role of diet in all aspects of physiology, from study design to disease state. We host an annual research symposium to which members are invited to contribute ideas on the latest nutritional science. Our group aims to facilitate ongoing discussions on hot topics related to nutrition and health. Join us and help us grow our community and our science.
"I am excited for the opportunity to serve as Chair of the APS Nutrition and Physiology Interest Group (NPIG). My research interests are focused on the physiological and biochemical mechanisms of metabolic adaptation, primarily in obesity models. My research training has spanned from exercise physiology, the molecular biology of lipids and the transcriptional regulation of metabolism. I have combined these areas over the course of my career into a research agenda that is centered on understanding the molecular and biochemical mechanisms that regulate metabolic control in response to environmental and nutritional factors. The importance of studying the effects of nutrition on physiological systems and their regulatory mechanisms cannot be overstated and as Chair, I hope to be able to integrate the NPIG across multiple APS Sections."
