APS Fellows Committee

PURPOSE: The APS Fellows Committee is responsible for the administration and review of nominees for the Fellow of the American Physiological Society (FAPS) Program

MEETINGS: The committee meets at least once annually. Meetings may be either conducted in-person or electronically.  

COMPOSITION:

This Committee is composed of 12 members, one from each section, plus a chairperson, all of whom must hold the FAPS designation. A Councillor liaison, who does not require the FAPS designation, serves as an ex officio member, without vote. Members are not eligible for reappointment. The director of membership serves as staff liaison to the committee.

DUTIES:
  • Administer the Fellow of the American Physiological Society (FAPS) Program in accordance with the criteria established by the Committee and approved by Council.
  • Submit a written annual report to Council at their spring meeting, as part of the consent agenda, providing activities from the previous 12 months. The report will be due three weeks ahead of the meeting.
