research papers published online in manuscript form before they
are copyedited and published in the printed issue of the APS journal to
which they were submitted. Articles in PresS are published online in the
PDF format automatically within a few days of acceptance, thus giving the
authors and readers an instant, subscription-based access to the newest
research and dramatically reducing time to publication.

APS Articles in PresS are citable, searchable in Medline,
and will establish publication priority.

Print and final online publication will copyedited and
formatted. The graphics
quality may also be different.

After the journal issue is published in print and online,
the final version of the article will appear when searched, while the
Articles in PresS version will be stored in an accessible archive. Both
versions will remain citable.
