Editor's Message
AJP - Heart and Circulatory
Physiology grew and expanded its reputation as a premier vehicle for the
publication of outstanding research in cardiovascular physiology under the
capable stewardship of David R. Harder, Ph.D., and a distinguished team of
Associate and Consulting Editors. Manuscript submission and the journal's
impact factor increased during Dr. Harder's tenure as Editor, reflecting
his innovative editorial initiatives that enhanced the attractiveness and
usefulness of the journal and assured that only manuscripts of superior
quality were accepted for publication. We in the scientific community are
indebted to Dr. Harder and his Associate Editors for their hard work
reaffirming and further advancing the high standing of AJP - Heart and
Circulatory Physiology among the cardiovascular science journals.
January 1,
2005, marks the beginning of a new editorial cycle as a new team of
Associate Editors and I assume the helm of the journal. Our goal is to
secure for publication in AJP - Heart and Circulatory Physiology the most meritorious
reports of innovative experimental and theoretical studies that provide
significant new insights into the mechanisms controlling cardiovascular
function at all levels of organization in health and disease.
The focus of our
efforts will be the implementation of a rigorous, expeditious and fair
review process that provides authors with constructive criticism and ensures
that papers accepted for publication meet a superior standard of excellence.
Special calls for papers will be used to promote the submission of
manuscripts in emerging areas of research relevant to cardiovascular
physiology. Outstanding papers reporting cutting edge research will be
highlighted by invited editorials. Timely short reviews will be used to
highlight and place in perspective rapidly developing or emerging areas of
research. Invited reviews and editorials also will be used to analyze from a
clinical perspective new research developments. Areas of disagreement will
be the subject of point-counterpoint debate articles by leading advocates.
With these initiatives, we hope to further promote the status of AJP - Heart
and Circulatory Physiology as a premier journal. We trust you will find the
journal to be an ideal vehicle for the publication of your research.
