The notice can be found here: http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2008/E8-14917.htm The RFI poses a series of specific questions, and responses will be accepted until September 29, 2008. News from the OER

The NIH’s Office of Extramural Research recently put out the June issue of Extramural Nexus: http://nexus.od.nih.gov/nexus/nexus.aspx?Month=6&Year=2008

I would like to draw your attention to the section about financial conflicts of interest. Senator Grassley (R-IA) has been conducting a series of investigations into improperly disclosed financial conflicts of interest among NIH grant recipients. Some of these have been widely covered in the popular press. Senator Grassley has also been placing considerable pressure on the NIH to better manage and track these conflicts. The article in Extramural Nexus outlines some steps that they are taking, including the possible collection of comments on modifying the rules that govern COI.
