222 NIH Grants: 22 Researchers

A news piece published in Nature on March 19, 2008 reported that there are several NIH grantees who receive multiple grants totaling millions of dollars. This observation has drawn attention in light of the recent peer review report’s suggestion that PIs devote a minimum percent effort to each grant. http://www.nature.com/news/2008/080319/full/452258a.html

Conflict of Interest: NIH FAQ’s

The NIH has published a new set of frequently asked questions about conflict of interest policies for NIH grantees. The questions are broken down by topic and whether they apply to institutions or individual PIs. http://grants.nih.gov/grants/policy/coifaq.htm

Conversation with Alan Krensky, NIH’s OPASI Director

Journalist Dan Greenberg recently interviewed Dr. Alan Krensky, director of the Office of Portfolio Analysis and Strategic Initiatives at the NIH. He addresses various topics including the NIH Roadmap, Common Fund and the Council of Councils – the group set up to advise the NIH leadership on trans-NIH initiatives. The first official meeting of this group is scheduled to take place this Monday, March 31 at the NIH. http://www.psychologicalscience.org/observer/getArticle.cfm?id=2310
