Health groups thank those who voted to override veto
APS is a signatory on the following letter that will be sent to all Representatives who voted to override the President’s veto of the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education bill. Organizers are hoping to get as many as 1000 organizations to sign the letter before it is sent out.
Back to UpdatesDear Representative:
The undersigned public health, medical research, education, training, disability, child welfare and social services organizations and labor unions representing the full range of stakeholders in the programs of the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services and Education, sincerely thank you for voting to override the President’s veto of the FY 2008 Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations bill (H.R. 3043).
The programs supported by this bill are fundamental to sustaining and advancing the well-being and prosperity of our nation. The bill provided a modest overall increase for these programs, most of which have experienced significant cuts, lost purchasing power, or both over the past three years. The increased investment is essential to improve the quality of life for America’s people, especially the most vulnerable among us. Our organizations are very disappointed the bill did not succeed.
As one of 277 Members in the House of Representatives that voted to support H.R. 3043 by overriding the President’s veto, your leadership is deeply appreciated!
Sincerely,
