APS Science Policy Update

August 17, 2007

In this issue:

  • From the desk of the NIH director
  • Science interviews NIH OPASI director
  • Employment data from FASEB

From the desk of the NIH Director

Dr. Zerhouni’s Summer 2007 newsletter focused on the current efforts underway to examine and reform the NIH peer review system. Dr. Zerhouni notes that NIH is taking a comprehensive look at peer review, and that they are not just looking to tweak the current system. The deadline for the request for information on peer review has been extended to September 7, and in addition to contributing to the APS response, individuals are encouraged to respond as well.
