House Labor-HHS-Ed subcommittee meets and agrees on NIH allocation

Yesterday, June 7, the House Labor-HHS-Ed appropriations subcommittee met to consider the FY 2008 spending bill. The bill contains a $750 million increase for the agency, 2.6% above the FY 2007 level for a total of $29.65 billion in FY 2008. However, after accounting for a $300 million transfer to the Global AIDS/HIV Fund, the increase shrinks to 1.9%. The bill will go to the full appropriations committee for consideration next week.
