NIH Conflict of Interest

The AP reports today that the Inspector General for Health and Human Services (HHS) plans to investigate potential conflict of interest cases at the NIH, as well as begin an inquiry into conflict of interest policies for NIH grantees. You will recall that investigations at NIH in the last few years led to a drastic rewriting of NIH’s conflict of interest policies for intramural scientists. The article can be found here and the letter from the Inspector General to the House Energy and Commerce committee, which oversees the NIH, can be found here.
