APS Science Policy Update
In this issue:
Item #1: Bill Talman and Kevin Kregel were in Washington last week to attend the FASEB Science Policy Committee meetings. They took this opportunity to visit their Iowa Representatives to discuss research funding and the Animal Welfare Act.Click here for a summary of their activities.
Item #2: A revised version of the NIH reauthorization bill was released last week, and representatives of the biomedical research advocacy community gathered in Washington last week to discuss the new draft. Click here for a brief summary of the bill and the major points discussed at the meeting.
Item #3: On Thursday, August 25, the NIH announced final ethics regulations for its intramural scientists. The rules were significantly changed from the interim regulations announced in February in response to concerns raised by NIH scientists.
