APS Science Policy Update

October 30, 2006

In this issue:

    • NIH issues RFI for Roadmap ideas
    • Conflict of Interest Rules at NIH
    • FASEB and AAMC put out statement on post-doc benefits

Request for Information on the NIH Roadmap

As was mentioned in a previous email, the NIH issued an RFI requesting ideas from the community for upcoming Roadmap initiatives. This represents an important opportunity for us to contribute ideas and shape how money will be spent at NIH in the upcoming years. Physiology offers a number of interesting possibilities that fit the criteria given in the RFI including physiological genomics and systems and integrative biology. Up to three ideas can be submitted and I am still looking for members to work with me on drafting the APS response. If you are interested, please get in touch with me as soon as possible. The deadline for submission of comments is November 17, 2006.
