NIH to Fund High Risk, High Impact Science

In a move to stimulate high-risk, high-impact medical research, the NIH is inviting nominations for the NIH Director's Pioneer Award Program. This initiative, which is part of the NIH Roadmap, will provide up to $500,000 per year for five years to a highly select group of individuals who have the potential to make extraordinary contributions to medical research. It is not intended to support ongoing research projects or simply expand the funding of persons who are already well supported.

The NIH announcement is available here. Further information about the award is available here.
