Microbiota and Cardiovascular Disease

Guest Editors Bina Joe and Matam Vijay-Kumar, along with the editorial team of AJP-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, invite submission of original research and short reviews that focus on the relationship between microbiota and cardiovascular disease.

The editors welcome research on areas of associative, mechanistic, and translational studies linking microbiota from various anatomical sites and/or microbial metabolites to cardiovascular disease and their risk factors. The editors encourage submission of both basic science using animal models, and clinically relevant translational physiology studies involving human subjects that link microbiota to cardiovascular disease.

We will consider both original research articles and review articles. For review articles only, authors should email the editorial office (ajphearteditor@gmail.com) a pre-submission inquiry including a working title, author and affiliation lists, abstract, and brief outline of the content for approval by the editors.

All manuscripts should be submitted online at http://ajpheart.msubmit.net/cgi-bin/main.plex. During the online submission process, under the "Keywords & Special Sections" tab, please use the "Category" drop-down menu and select “Call for Papers: Microbiota and Cardiovascular Disease."

Manuscripts will undergo normal peer review as they are received. Accepted manuscripts will be published online as they are accepted. Articles published from this Call for Papers will be highlighted at the time of publication. All manuscripts accepted from this Call for Papers will be included in an online article collection to further highlight the importance of this topic. The article collection will also include specially commissioned Review articles on the topic.

Manuscripts can be submitted anytime, but to be eligible for inclusion in this Call for Papers, manuscripts must be submitted by June 30, 2019. If you have any questions please contact Kara Hansell Keehan, Executive Editor, via email at ajphearteditor@gmail.com
