Innovative and emerging technologies including novel imaging methods, high throughput technologies (DNA sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics and small compound screening) provide novel ways to visualize and analyze complex physiological and disease processes at whole organism, organ, cellular or molecular network levels. We are particularly interested in papers that use these new approaches to effectively add a new mechanistic dimension to our understanding of a specific physiological process or disease mechanism. Papers including new or high throughput technologies should ensure that descriptions of methodology, nomenclature and data analysis are easily understood by a broad readership.
