Tip Sheet: Latest Episode of Life Lines Available

BETHESDA, Md. (Jan. 19, 2009) - You can find some ideas for short feature stories in the latest issue (Episode 29) of Life Lines (www.lifelines.tv):

  1. Post-World War II cardiac research on dogs led to a better understanding of the hearts ability to withstand cardiac surgery.

  2. Physiological and biomedical research led to the development of the modern treadmill the prototype for the ones now in health clubs and homes.

  3. Hydrogen sulfide gas may have led to one of the largest extinctions in earths history. That may be why the noses of so many species today are so sensitive to even minute quantities of the gas.

  4. Our brain produces imperfect memories because calling up memories makes them subject to revision.

The items on cardiac research and the treadmill are in the interview with Dusty Sarazan. The cardiac story begins at 01:02, while the treadmill story begins at 02:36.

The segment on hydrogen sulfide gas is with David Kraus and begins at 06:20.

The segment on our imperfect memories is in the interview with David Linden that begins at 04:15.
