Meeting Announcement - 2001

Future Meetings of Iowa Physiological Society - 2001

Annual meetings of Iowa Physiological Society (IPS) should continue to be held jointly with the Iowa Academy of Science (IAS) Physiology Section which meets each year near the end of April. Registration and abstract processing are handled by the Iowa Academy of Science with fees paid directly to that organization.

Fees for the 2001 Meeting should   be similar to those for the 2000 Meeting which were as follows: IAS members -- $45 (pre-registered) or $55 (on-site), IAS student members -- $20 or $25, non-IAS members -- $55 or $65, student non-IAS members -- $20 or $25, Spouse -- $20 or $25.  Those presenting papers as the responsible author are required to pre-registere. Others can either pre-register by mail (IAS Office, 175 Baker Hall, Cedar Falls, IA 50614-0508; E-mail: vanderlinden@uni.edu; phone: 319 273-2021)  or register at the time of the Meeting at the IAS Registration Desk.  Presenters and other attendees are encouraged to join both IPS and IAS but membership in neither organization is required. Dues for IPS are $10 per year (no cost for students) and IAS dues are $40 per year ($20 for students).

Although past IPS-IAS Annual Meetings have been traditionally held on college or university campuses throughout Iowa, the 2000 and 2001 Meetings were both scheduled to he held at Hotel Fort Des Moines (www.hotelfortdm.com/), Des Moines (www.desmoinesia.com/).  The 2001 Meeting will be on Friday and Saturday April 20-21.

The deadline for receipt of abstracts by the Iowa Academy of Science Office is generally sometime between the middle and end January.  Presenter forms are usually distributed to IAS members in the late Fall preceding an annual meeting.  Individuals who do not receive presenter forms, require additional copies, want information about the IAS Meeting, or want information about IAS, can contact the IAS Office at 175 Baker Hall, Cedar Falls, IA 50614-0508 (e-mail: vanderlinden@uni.edu or call 319 273-2021).  Usually, presenter  forms are also available at the University of Iowa Department of Physiology & Biophysics Office, 5-660 BSI, Iowa City or from any of the IPS Board Members.
