Tooling Up - Can You Manage?
http://nextwave.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/2004/12/16/22
This month's Tooling Up tells you what it takes to be considered "ready to manage." Many companies, notably the smaller biotechnology employers, assume that a person with years of graduate education can automatically be put into a supervisory position. But leadership doesn't come naturally for a scientist, and in other companies, it is possible to "opt out" of that job category entirely.
