How to Become a Member of the Trainee Advisory Committee

If you are a graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, or new investigator and are interested in serving on the Trainee Advisory Committee, the process is different than for other committees.

1. You must be a member of APS (student or regular, if new investigator)

2. You must belong to an APS section. You can find out what section you belong to or you can sign up for a section by going to the Members only site.

3. Find out when your section representative is due to rotate off the Committee by checking the Committee member list.

4. Find out who the Chair of your section is by going to the appropriate section page and selecting Steering Committee.

5. Contact your section Chair and let him/her know you are interested in serving on the Trainee Advisory Committee. When your section representative is due to rotate off, you will be considered for the vacancy on the Committee.

How to Serve on Other Committees

The following committees have student members:
   Animal Care and Experimentation Committee
   Membership Committee
   Women in Physiology Committee

If you are a student member and want to apply to serve as the student member on these committees, you need to fill out an application. Applications are due in January.

If you are a regular member, you are eligible to be on most committees and can fill out an application to be on whichever one sounds most interesting to you. Applications are due in January.
