Do I really need to submit an endorsement form to have my application considered?

Yes, All candidates must submit a Candidate Information form AND an Endorsement form.

Do I need to complete a separate Candidate Information form and Endorsement form if I wish to apply for more than one committee?

Yes, you will need to provide separate forms for each committee to which you are applying. You may have the same person complete each endorsement form. Only 1 (one) endorsement form will be accepted for each candidate information form submitted. 

When will I be notified if I about committee appointments?

The Committee on Committee presents its recommendations to the APS Council for approval at the Spring Council meeting held in conjunction with the EB meeting; all candidates are contacted regarding their nomination in late May/early June.

I applied for a committee position last year, but was not selected. Do I need to resubmit forms again this year if I wish to apply again?

Yes, new applications must be submitted each year.

Can I serve on more than one committee?

No, members may serve on only one Society wide committee at a time.

Can I serve on an APS Section committee and a Society wide committee?

Yes, since this does not present a conflict, members may serve on a committee for their section as well as a Society wide committee.

Can I use these forms to apply for a Section committee?

No, you should contact your section chair to determine the process of applying for section committees. These forms are to be used for Society wide committees only.

Do committees only meet once a year at the EB meeting?

No, some committee will have an additional meeting during the fall at the APS headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. Additionally, many committees will conduct conference calls throughout the year. Please refer to the Committee Position Descriptions and Responsibilities for additional information.
