Environmental and Exercise Physiology (EEP) New Investigator Award recognizes an outstanding investigator in the early stages of his/her career who has made meritorious contributions to the areas of environmental, exercise, thermal, or applied physiology.

The award includes $1000 plus reimbursement of the advanced registration fee. Awardees are recognized at the EEP Awards Reception, and may be invited to give an oral presentation of their work in an awardees session.
Applicants must be APS members in good standing, have a primary affiliation with the EEP Section, and not be above the rank of Assistant Professor or a comparable position in a research track at an academic institution or in industry (e.g. Scientist, Sr. Scientist, Research Investigator, etc.). Applicants need nominations from at least two regular members of APS. Applicants will be judged on their publications, how the publications relate to the EEP Section, and evidence for independence and promise (grant funding, peer review activities, etc.). Although this is not an abstract-based award, applicants are expected to attend Experimental Biology and make an oral or poster presentation.

Established Investigators



Environmental and Exercise Physiology (EEP) Impact Award recognizes a mid-career primary EEP member who has either established a line of impactful research or has made a seminal discovery in the areas of environmental, exercise, thermal, or applied physiology. For the purposes of this award, mid-career candidates will be defined as individuals, at the time of application, who are Associate Professors or Full Professors within 10 years of their appointment as an Associate Professor (or a comparable position in a research track at an academic institution or in industry).

The award includes $1000, up to $2,000 travel reimbursement to attend Experimental Biology, and reimbursement of the advanced registration fee. Awardees are recognized at the EEP Awards Reception.

Required materials must be submitted by March 1 of the year preceding the award presentation:

Environmental and Exercise Physiology (EEP) Edward F. Adolph Distinguished Lectureship recognizes an eminent research scholar who has made meritorious contributions to the areas of environmental, exercise, thermal, or applied physiology and is an outstanding public speaker.

The award includes $1000, up to $2,000 travel reimbursement to attend Experimental Biology, and complimentary registration to the meeting. In addition to presenting the Edward F. Adolph Distinguished Lecture, awardees are recognized at the EEP Awards Reception.

Required materials must be submitted by March 1 of the year preceding the lecture presentation:

Environmental and Exercise Physiology (EEP) Honor Award recognizes a previous or current primary member of the EEP Section who is 60 years of age or older and has made significant research contributions to the scientific advancement of environmental, exercise, thermal, or applied physiology while making significant contributions to enhancing the objectives of the Section.

The award includes $1250, up to $2,000 travel reimbursement to attend Experimental Biology, and reimbursement of the advanced registration fee. Awardees are recognized at the EEP Awards Reception.
