How can I purchase a single article from a journal?
You can purchase access to a single article by using the Pay-Per-View feature. Click on full text next to the article you wish to view. You will be taken to a login page. There you will see the instructions on how to purchase 24 hour access to an article.

Do you accept credit cards for payment?
Yes, APS accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

Do you accept purchase orders for payment?
No, APS does not accept purchase orders for payment. You can submit a purchase order and APS will provide an invoice. Your order will not be processed until full payment has been received.

Can I view the full archive of issues for a particular journal with my subscription?
Archive content can be viewed back as far as September 1996, depending on the journal. Content prior to this is part of the APS Journal Legacy Content. Please see the next question for a description of the APS Journal Legacy Content.

What is the difference between the APS Journal Legacy Content and a subscription to a particular journal?
The Journal Legacy Content is a separate program from the Subscription Program in that you pay once for perpetual access to the content from thirteen APS titles. This content goes back to the first issue of each journal – including the first journal published in 1898.

How do I cancel an active subscription?
To cancel an active subscription, please contact the APS Circulation Department at subscriptions@the-aps.org or fax us at (301) 634-7418.
No refunds will be issued after half the subscription has been serviced. A cancellation fee of $10.00 per journal will be applied. Subscription refunds will be prorated up to 6 months per journal. APS does not accept returned issues for credit.

How do I go about placing a claim for a missing issue?
You can claim for a missing issue by contacting the APS Circulation Department at subscriptions@the-aps.org, by fax at (301) 634-7418 or by mail at:

Within a subscription period, up to 3 issues will be replaced at no charge for journals published monthly and 1 issue for journals published quarterly or bimonthly. Requests must be received within 3 months from date of original mailing for all domestic subscriptions and 4 months for all international subscriptions. Replacement issues claimed beyond the limits must be prepaid at the subscriber’s single issue rate. All back issue fulfillment will depend on availability. Claims for missing issues will not be honored for free replacement when the issues are being sent to the agent’s own address to be forwarded to the end-user. Single issue charges will be assessed.
If you are claiming because your issue is damaged, we need to have picture proof of the damaged issue within 5 days of receipt of the issue.

My institution has a subscription to an APS journal online, but I’m not able to see the full text of articles. I’m prompted for a username and password. Why is this happening?
When this happens, the IP address is not being recognized. This failure is caused by one of these things:
- Your institutional subscription has not yet been activated.
- All of the IP addresses for your institution have not been entered.
- The content is not included as part of your subscription. Please contact your library to confirm your subscription.

My institution subscribes to more than one APS journal. As the administrator, do I need to activate each journal online subscription separately?
No, activating one journal will activate all the APS journals to which you subscribe.

Am I able to get usage statistics for my online journal subscription?
Yes, you can retrieve your usage statistics by following these instructions:
- The journal URLs can be found at: http://www.physiology.org/
- To view the usage statistics click on the journal title.
- Sign in using the fields located at the top right of the page.
- Click on Subscribe located above the grey strip along the top of the page.
- Click on ‘Managing Your Subscription’.
- Under ‘Institutional Subscriptions: Account Administrator Only:’ click ‘View Your Institutional Usage Reports’.

Who from my institution can access APS journals online?
The subscription fee allows for unrestricted access at one location. Any user connecting from an authorized computer on your institutional network will be allowed access.

How do I purchase a Personal subscription?
You can order a personal subscription by mail, email, fax, or online.
The following information will be needed before your personal subscription can be processed:
Please send a photocopy of your student/staff ID at the university/institution where you do your research. If you are a student, please send a letter on institution stationary from your advisor attesting to your student status at the university. The letter must include name and full contact information including institutional email address of your advisor.
If you are a staff member, please include the name and full contact information including the institutional email address of your supervisor for verification of employment at the university/institution.
If you are a physician in private practice, please forward (by fax, email, or regular mail) a letter on hospital stationary verifying that you have staff privileges at that hospital. Please also include the name and full contact information including the institutional email address of the hospital administrator for verification of your staff privileges.
Educational certificates will not be accepted as proof of personal status.

What is your return policy for APS books?
Return/Refund Policy:
- Customer may return book(s) within 45 days of receipt.
- Returned book(s) must be in perfect resalable condition.
- Damaged or shelf worn copies will not be accepted.
- Ship all returns via traceable method.
- Books damaged in transit must be reported to APS within 30 days.
- Please allow 3-4 weeks for refund to be posted on your credit card or to receive a refund check. Refunds are provided by the same means as the payment on your original purchase.
