Special Instructions for Advances in Physiology Education

Effective June 2017, Advances in Physiology Education is emphasizing two of the 2004 Guidelines for Reporting Statistics:

Guideline 5. Report variability using a standard deviation. If the standard deviation is not a meaningful estimate of variability, as when the data are skewed, then the range or interquartile range provide more meaningful estimates.

Report a standard deviation with notation of this form: 90 mmHg (SD 10). 

Guideline 7. Report a precise P value. The sequel to the 2004 Guidelines (see Table 2) offers the appropriate precision for rounding P values.
