Josh Wallman '65 died March 3 in New York City. He was professor of biological sciences at City College, the City University of New York, for nearly 40 years. He taught Neuroscience 1 for more than two decades and was a member of the advisory committee to the neuroscience subprogram. In recent years he was involved in the subprogram's transition toward a multidisciplinary program in the neurosciences. A pioneering vision researcher, he studied how the growth of the eye is controlled by its visual input and made significant contributions in the neurophysiology and psychophysics of eye movement. He was a beloved collegue and mentor to his fellow doctoral faculty members and to his students in the classroom and the laboratory. He was the recipient of the 2012 Friedenwald Award of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He leave his wife, Valerie Stalvey, whom he married one day before his death from cancer, adn a brother, Carl.
