How to Apply for Membership
One application form serves all membership categories. There are however, specific sets of instructions for each category. Therefore, it is essential that sponsors and applicants carefully follow the specific instructions in their desired category.
Send no money now. You will receive a dues statement upon election to membership.
General Instructions
Check the box indicating the category of membership for which you are applying. Type the requested information on the application. Fill out all applicable spaces. Do NOT include a curriculum vitae or reprints.
The Publications should be submitted in the form found in the American Journal of Physiology. These publications should consist of manuscripts that have been printed in peer-review journals. An example of the current form is:
MacLeod RJ and Hamilton JR. Volume regulation initiated by Na+-nutrient contransport in isolated mammalian villus enterocytes. Am J Physiol Gastorintest Liver Physiol 280: G26-G33, 1991.
Deadline Dates
Completed applications for Regular membership are considered for nomination by the Council and the Membership Committee, on a monthly basis. Affiliate and Student applications are accepted monthly upon approval of the Executive Director of the Society. Applications are not complete until all materials are received.
Sponsors
With the exception of Undergraduate Student Membership, two regular members must serve as sponsors on the application. If you are unable to obtain sponsors, mail or fax this form to the address on the back of the membership application and we will locate them for you. Applicants for Undergraduate Student Membership must provide proof of matriculation in an accredited degree program (i.e.: submission of transcripts or a letter from the Registrar's Office).
