"I would urge, that a thorough study of Human Physiology is, in itself, an education broader and more comprehensive than much that passes under that name. There is no side of the intellect which it does not call into play, no region of human knowledge into which either its roots, or its branches, do not extend." — Thomas Henry Huxley
Outreach is the responsibility of every scientist. APS offers many ways to reach out to the next generation of scientists.
See the Resources section below to learn how to participate in Physiology Understanding Week, a local science fair, and how to apply for the APS K-12 Minority Outreach Fellowship.
This resource brochure contains information about available awards, fellowships and career development opportunities designed to increase the overall participation of those from groups which are currently underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
This program seeks to foster communication between minority graduate and postdoctoral students and middle/high school minority life sciences students.
APS members can give an APS award at their local or regional science fair at the elementary, middle, or high school level.
Physiology Understanding (PhUn) Week is the APS’ member-based annual outreach program to K-12 school classrooms each November.
