Applying for the Fellowship
Applications can ONLY be submitted online through the APS Online Awards Application System (see link below). The application deadline is February 1 each year and award recipients are notified in late March. Check the current Application PDF (see below) for instructions and requirements.
Complete applications will be reviewed and awardees selected by the APS Porter Physiology Development and Minority Affairs Committee. Decisions will be final.
STRIDE Fellows will be eligible for a second year of funding after successful completion of a first year as a STRIDE Fellow.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Applicants must have an over-all GPA of ≥3.0 (0-4.0 scale).
- Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students.
- Students must be from backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical research, including individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, and individuals with disabilities. See NIH description linked below for a specific list.
- The laboratory host must be an APS member in good standing.
Selection of Participants
Participants are selected based on academic merit and quality of both student and research host application.
