The Archive “Vision and Change” Scholars Program is an 8-week Online Program for Full-Time Undergraduate Faculty in Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Developmental Biology who would like to become experts in participating in online educator communities and utilizing digital libraries to find free, quality resources. Additionally, Archive “Vision and Change” Scholars will be introduced to the principles of the Vision and Change in Undergraduate Education Report developed by AAAS and NSF (http://visionandchange.org/). Archive “Vision and Change” Scholars will learn how to apply these principles to their current lesson plans via creation of a Vision and Change Resource Collection.
At the end of this course, educators will be able to:
- Describe what digital libraries are, what they offer, and how to identify the characteristics of a digital library collection
- Demonstrate increased proficiency in finding and evaluating quality digital resources
- Demonstrate increased proficiency in using digital libraries to find needed resources
- Demonstrate proficiency and confidence in participating in an online educator community via rating, commenting on, and sharing digital library resources with colleagues using the Archive, Facebook, and other online tools
- Submit a self-created resource to the Archive
- Create a Teacher-Recommended Collection that describes your use of a collection of online Archive resources
- Create a Vision and Change Collection that highlights the scholarship of teaching and learning by including all Vision and Change components
- Participate in an online educator community
- Identify further opportunities to use digital library skills in other projects and programs
