Live courses include online lessons and discussions as well as a 3-day live workshop with experienced physiologists. Each student is assigned to a small working group, based on the topic of his/her research manuscript. An instructor is assigned to the group based on his/her experience in the group members’ manuscript topics. Instructors are experienced researchers and are well-published in their fields. All have served as journal reviewers and many have been associate editors or editors of one or more journals.

Students bring their own draft manuscript and receive feedback from both the instructor and peers. Interactive exercises, brief presentations and informal discussions provide opportunities to not only learn the course materials but to also build an important network of junior and senior colleagues.

Students pay a registration fee and air/ground travel. The registration fee covers the course registration fee, hotel and meals during the course. APS significantly subsidizes the registration fee to keep costs low for the student.

In the Resources Section below, look for current course agendas, costs, overviews, FAQs and application information. If applications are not currently being accepted, sample materials from the previous course will be listed for your reference.
