Abstract Submission

Abstract Deadline

The deadline for the submission of abstracts has now closed.

Abstract Fee

All abstracts must be submitted electronically and require an abstract handling payment of $75. The abstract handling fee is non-refundable and must be submitted at the time of abstract submission. Payment may be made with a Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit card. A receipt of the abstract handling charge will be emailed to the first author only. The abstract fee does not include your registration for the conference.

PLEASE NOTE: that by submitting payment for your abstract, you are agreeing to authorize your credit card to be charged. Any disputed credit card payments for abstract submissions may result in your abstract being withdrawn from the conference. The abstract fee is $75 USD. If you are submitting an abstract using an overseas credit card the fee charged may differ due to the exchange rate on the date charged. The transaction detail on your statement may read: “APS,” “Am Phys Soc,” or “American Physiological Society.” A $25 USD processing fee will be incurred by the abstract submitter, should a disputed charge for an abstract be found in favor of APS. If you are not sure, email APS at: or call: 301-634-7971.

Abstract Submission Important Information

Abstracts should contain a sentence stating the study objective (unless given in the title); a brief statement of methods, if pertinent; a summary of the results obtained; and a statement of the conclusions. Use a short, specific title. Capitalize initial letters of trade names and use standard abbreviations for units of measure. Non-standard abbreviations should be spelled-out in full at first mention, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses.

All investigations involving humans and animals reported in abstracts must have been conducted in conformance with guidelines for experimental procedures as set forth in the Declaration of Helsinki and the APS “Guiding Principals in the care and Use of Animals.” The Organizing Committee will refuse abstracts in which evidence of adherence to these guidelines is not apparent.

All abstracts submitted for this conference will be bound with the official program and handed out onsite. These abstracts are considered in press of The Physiologist. They will appear in the January 2016 issue and should be cited as “program number [#], in press” directly reproduced from the electronic submission. Authorization of the senior author certifies that the research adheres to the APS Guiding Principles for the Care and Use of Animals. Click here to view the APS Guiding Principals.

We will do our best to accommodate each author’s preference on their presentation option; however, oral presentation slots may be limited due to the high number of abstracts that are anticipated. Please note that all abstract submissions will be programmed as posters regardless of whether the abstract has been selected for an oral presentation. Authors will find out their abstract assignment in July 2015.

Do not submit the same abstract more than once. The abstract submission site allows for revisions. Go to the login (Returning User) page and enter your login in name and the password that you provided in your original submission to start the revision process. First author abstract presenters will be notified of the exact date, time, location, and poster board number in July 2015. The first author must present the paper unless alternate arrangements are made with the APS Meetings Department. No paper may be read by title.
