Meeting Award
There are two awards available for this meeting:
- APS Abstract-based Travel Awards for Postdoctoral and Graduate Students Abstract-based
- APS NIDDK Minority Travel Award
Travel Awards for Postdoctoral and Graduate Students
To encourage the participation of young scientists in training, awards will be granted to postdoctoral fellows and graduate students for best abstract presentation. The awards will consist of a cash prize and certificate.
To be considered for an award the candidate must:
- Submit an abstract for the meeting.
- Be the first author on the abstract.
- Must be a student or postdoctoral fellow*.
- Indicate on the “Details” page of the abstract site, their desire to be considered for the award.
- Complete and submit the online award application form by the deadline.
To apply for the abstract-award application form, please click here. The deadline for submitting the abstract-based award application is June 27, 2012. Please note that we are only accepting applications for this award online. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Award applicantwill be judged prior to the meeting and the winners announced during the closing meeting banquet and awards ceremony.

*Postdoctoral Fellows must have received their degree within the last five years of the conference dates.
APS NIDDK Minority Travel Award
The APS, with support from NIDDK, is offering a limited number of travel awards for individuals who traditionally have been underrepresented in science, who are attending US institutions and conducting research within the 50 States and U.S. Territories, to attend the 2012 APS Intersociety Meeting, "Integrative Biology of Exercise" from October 10-13 in Westminster, CO.
The specific intent of this award is to increase participation of pre- and post-doctoral minority students in the physiological sciences. This program is designed to encourage highly qualified individuals from groups traditionally underrepresented in science to pursue professional careers in the physiological sciences.
The Minority Travel Fellowship Awards are open to:
- underrepresented minority (URM) undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows,
- persons with disabilities,
- undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds and
- faculty members at Minority Serving Institutions (i.e. HBCUs, HSIs, and Tribal Colleges and Universities).
Funds will provide registration, transportation, meals, and lodging up to a maximum amount specified for this meeting.
These awards do not provide funds for international travel. Fellowships awarded are contingent on the availability of grant funds. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
