Ernst R. Jaffé
January 4, 1925 - February 16, 2008
Jaffé-Ernst R., MD, DHL, age 83, Distinguished University
Professor Emeritus of Medicine and Senior Associate Dean Emeritus of Albert
Einstein College of Medicine passed away on February 16th. He is remembered
with deep affection by his devoted wife, Jane, of 57 years, his daughter,
Dr. Stephanie Green, and her husband, Dr. Stephen Green, and his son,
Richard Jaffé, and his wife, Gerry, and his four grandchildren Andrew and
Christopher Green and Courtland and Caroline Jaffé. He was born in Chicago,
Illinois, a long time resident of Tenafly, NJ, and, more recently, a
resident of Port Washington, NY. Alma maters included Francis W. Parker
School and the University of Chicago as an undergraduate and medical
student. He was an intern and resident at Columbia University Presbyterian
Hospital in New York. At Albert Einstein College of Medicine, his career as
a hematologist was established. He was active in many academic societies and
served as a member of the Board of the American Red Cross. Funeral services
were private. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to
