Albert F. Kelso
November 19, 1917 - January 29, 2009
Dr.
Albert F. Kelso (1917 – 2009) passed away on January 29th, 2009
after a month in the hospital. He received his PhD degree from Loyola
University in Chicago. He taught at the Chicago College of Osteopathy
(Midwestern University) for forty five years and was chairman of the
Physiology Department there. He did research during World War II on
training pilots to maintain maximum fitness and served three years in the
U.S. Navy as a navigator. His later research was on segmental dysfunction
and Osteopathic lesion. He married Margaret Wade in 1943 and they had 65
years together, raising three children: Elizabeth, Pamela, and Arthur.
He was an avid reader
and his greatest joy was helping students achieve their highest potential.
His favorite past-time was trout fishing in Michigan and Colorado. His
greatest contribution was research in developing and promoting the
Osteopathic profession. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends,
students and colleagues.
There will be a
memorial service at the United Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 14th
at 1:30 pm. The church is located at 16440 Cottage Grove Avenue in South
Holland. The family requests no flowers. Anyone interested in making a
donation should send it to the American Academy of Osteopathy – Louisa Burns
Research Fund in memory of Dr. Kelso; 3500 DePauw Blvd. Suite 1050;
Indianapolis, IN 46268. The fund will be used for students to attend
conferences. |
