Intercellular Regulation of Smooth Muscle Contraction
Sponsored by APS Respiration Section

Monday, April 30 — 3:15-5:15 PM
Washington, DC Convention Center — Room 145A

Chaired:

Michael Sanderson, Univ. of Massachusetts
Susan Gunst, Indiana Univ. Sch. of Med.

The contraction of smooth muscle cells is important in regulating numerous physiological processes including of vascular tone, gut motility and airway constriction. The aim of this symposium is to examine how adjacent cells or the extracellular matrix contribute to the regulation of SMC contraction.

3:15 PM

Local potassium signaling couples neuronal activity to vascular function.
