Meeting Dates

This meeting will take place August 9-12, 2007.

Housing Reservations:

APS has reserved lodging at the Hyatt Regency Austin at Town Lake Hotel. Hotel rooms have been reserved at a rate of $140 for a single, $160 for a double, and $180 for a triple occupancy.

To make reservations: call the property directly at: 1-800-233-1234 (within the US) or 1-512-477-1234 (outside the US) and ask for reservations. Be sure to identify yourself as an APS Conference Attendee and provide the meeting dates.  You can also reserve your room online by clicking here.

The property will require a one-night deposit when making your reservation. The property will provide you with written confirmation, a receipt for the room deposit and all cancellation and early departure policies and penalties. The deadline for making housing reservations is July 10, 2007. Please make your reservations early.

Local Information:

Austin is located in southeastern section of Texas, close to other major cities, including Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. The city of Austin is situated on the winding Colorado River, and is home to many diverse and cultural interests.

Austin is steeped in history from the birth of its independence from Mexico to the present day Texas; it boasts the rich and colorful passion for music, including country, jazz, blues, swing, and hip-hop music; and don’t forget the culinary delights of Tex Mex, authentic Texas barbecue, delicious seafood, spicy Mexican, and many other tempting delights.

Austin is also home to the University of Texas at Austin, and the infamous Congress Street Bridge bats, that leave the bridge at dusk each evening during the summer, in a spectacular fashion. For more information on visiting Austin click here.

Casual dress is very appropriate for this meeting. The average temperature in August has a high of 95 degrees F/35 degrees C; low of 74 degrees F/23 degree C.

Transportation:

The Hyatt Regency Austin Hotel is located 8 miles northwest of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Cab fare from the airport is approximately $15 each way. The airport is served by most major and discount airlines, including Southwest, Delta, Jet Blue, American, and Continental.
