Continuing Medical Education (CME) This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Polices of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) and The American Physiological Society. The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Federation designates this educational activity for up to 15 American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award (AMAPRA) Category 1 CreditsTM. CME application forms are available online beginning August 9th, 2007 and will also be available at the on-site meeting location. The fee for each CME application is $45. Should you have questions, contact the FASEB Office of Scientific Meetings and Conferences, 9650 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814-3998, Tel: 301-634-7010 or at: fasebcme@faseb.org . American Physiological Society CME Mission Statement The American Physiological Society Mission Statement is: The American Physiological Society (APS) is devoted to fostering scientific research, education, and the dissemination of scientific information. By providing a spectrum of physiological information, the APS strives to play an important role in the progress of science and the advancement of knowledge. Providing current, usable information to the scientific community is the Society’s primary focus. To help foster a continuing learning environment for scientists, The American Physiological Society has created a program of meetings and conferences. For the purposes of providing Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits to physician researchers, these meetings and conferences are sponsored by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB). The American Physiological Society determines the location and dates for each program to enhance the participation and avoid overlap of other meetings. Through these meetings and conferences, investigators will gain increased educational awareness and knowledge in emerging areas of physiology for scientific and clinical uses. The meetings and conferences are planned by the organizing committee to give the most scientific exposure and to meet the specific needs of the investigator, through state-of the-art lectures, symposiums, oral, and poster sessions of the submitted abstracts. The APS Joint Program Committee and Council review the proposed meeting and conference to ensure it adheres to the mission and goals of the Society and that it is executed in accordance with the essential areas and policies of the ACCME. A printed meeting program with the complete listing of submitted abstracts is provided to each registrant. The program is also available on the APS website and the December issue of The Physiologist. Topics and invited speakers are selected to encourage participation from the audience and to engage in further discussions. The meetings are structured to provide a forum for idea exchanges and networking activities. Program Objective/ Target Audience Upon completing the program, participants will have gained increased knowledge in the field of sex steroids and how they affect genders in the physiology of the cardiovascular-renal systems. The goal of the conference is to accumulate a critical mass of scientists who have interests in sex steroids in physiology of the cardiovascular and renal systems to promote the exchange of ideas and potential collaborations in the future. The program also encourages debates and discussions at all of the sessions to foster contributions to improving human health. The intended audience for this meeting includes all levels of researchers including clinical practitioners, research scientists, and medical education professionals working in the field of sex steroids, particularly as it pertains to the cardiovascular and renal systems.
