Abstract-based Travel Awards for Postdoctoral and Graduate Students

To encourage the participation of young scientists in training, awards will be granted to postdoctoral fellows and graduate students for best abstract presentation. The awards will consist of a cash prize and certificate.

To be considered for an award the candidate must:

  • Submit an abstract for the conference.

  • Be the first author on the abstract.

  • Indicate on the “Details” page of the abstract site, their desire to be considered for the award.

  • Complete and submit an award application form by the deadline.

Award applicants will be judged onsite and the winners announced during the Banquet and Awards Reception that is being held on Friday, September 11, 2009.

NIDDK Minority Travel Award Information

The American Physiological Society, with support from NIDDK, is offering travel awards for underrepresented minorities (i.e., African-Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders) who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, to attend the 2009 APS Conference: ET-11: APS International Conference on Endothelin being held at the Marriott Chateau Champlain in Montréal, Canada.

The specific intent of this award is to increase participation of pre- and postdoctoral minority students in the physiological sciences. The awards are open to graduate students, postdoctoral students, and advanced undergraduate students. Minority faculty members at institutions eligible for Minority Access to Research Career (MARC) awards or Minority Biomedical Research Programs (MBRS) awards may also apply. Funds will provide transportation, meals, and lodging.
