This includes a series of activities on cardiovascular physiology. You can use the activities individually or as a complete learning cycle unit.

Requires 1-2 class periods. Students take a step back in time to see the world through the eyes of Sara Josephine Baker as she tracks down Typhoid Mary...then they become public health officials, working as a team to track down the source of a realistic, modern day typhoid outbreak.
Respiration Rate
Changes as a Function
of External Temperature
Requires 1-2 class periods. Students design an experiment to test the effects of temperature on respiration, using goldfish as a model.
Demonstrating &

Power
Requires 1-2 class periods. Use an exercise cycle to help students understand anaerobic power.
How Do Hypertonic, Hypotonic, and
Isotonic Solutions
Affect the Water
Movement of a Cell?
Requires 2 class periods. After the hard shell is removed, chicken eggs provide a good opportunity to observe the effects of hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic solutions on cells.
In Vitro Muscle Contraction Requires 1-2 class periods. Skeletal muscle fibers and ATP solutions demonstrate muscle fiber contraction.

Requires 1-2 class periods. Students must create a mechanism to accomplish a specific task using the materials provided (A Rube Goldberg-type activity.)
