Investigating Tropisms in Plants
Grade Level: High School
Subject:
Plant Physiology

As part of a botany unit, this inquiry lab involves students in observing and investigating plant responses to environmental stimuli (tropisms). Students observe tropisms in plants and develop experiments to test phototropism, geotropism and thigmotropism. Students also investigate the plant hormones that induce these responses. Assessments include writing a grant proposal, maintaining a lab journal and producing a final poster for a meeting presentation.
