APS participates as a Special Awards Sponsor for ISEF
Each year, the APS recognizes outstanding high school research projects in life sciences.  Four students receive cash awards and a year's subscription to Physiology, an APS journal .

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) is the Olympics, the World Cup and the World Series of science competitions. Held annually in May, the Intel ISEF brings together over 1,200 students from 41 nations to compete for scholarships, tuition grants, internships, scientific field trips and the grand prize: a trip to attend the Nobel Prize Ceremonies in Stockholm, Sweden. Science Service founded the ISEF in 1950 and is very proud to have Intel as the title sponsor of this prestigious, international competition.

Science Service, a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC, has administered the ISEF since 1950. Intel is the title sponsor of the ISEF. Other major sponsors include AARP Andrus Foundation, Discover Magazine, Environmental Protection Agency, Merck Research Laboratories, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company, Scientific American and Science News.

Each year 1,200 students compete for scholarships in 15 categories:
Behavioral and Social Sciences, Biochemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth & Space Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Science, Gerontology, Mathematics, Medicine & Health, Microbiology, Physics, Zoology, and Team Project.

Find a local science fair

Would you like to participate in a local science fair?

More than 600 awards are presented at ISEF.  Awards are $3,000, $1,500, $1,000 and $500 respectively in each of the 15 categories. Additional awards include tuition scholarships, summer internships, scientific field trips and laboratory equipment. The two overall winners of the Intel ISEF receive all-expense-paid trips to attend the Nobel Prize Ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden.

Science, engineering and industry professionals serve as judges for the Intel ISEF. All judges have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and eight years relevant experience.
