2007 Reports APS-NIDDK Minority Travel Fellows Program: Retrospective Study 1987-2004(Published April 2007, full report in PDF format)Between 1987 and 2004, the Minority Travel Fellows Program made 665 travel awards to 470 students (undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral) and faculty. With support from the NIDDK, the APS conducted a study of past Travel Fellows to gather information on their career paths and their perceptions of the impact of the Fellowship on their physiology careers. This report provides a summary of the study results.
Promoting Physiology Education for All: APS Education Committee Report, 2001-2006(Published March 2007, full report in PDF format)The Education Committee is one of the standing committees of the American Physiological Society (APS). This report provides an overview of major committee-sponsored programs between 2001 and 2006. The Committee’s work was guided by the 2000 APS Strategic Plan, which clearly focused on providing physiology-related programs 2006 Reports and services at all educational levels: precollege, undergraduate, graduate/professional, and continuing education. This report provides an overview of programs at each level.
Porter Physiology Development Program: A Retrospective Study of Porter Fellows, 1967 – 2001(Published September 2006, full report in PDF format)Since 1967, Porter Physiology Development Program Fellowships have supported the predoctoral and postdoctoral studies of numerous minority students with the support of the American Physiological Society (APS) and the William Townsend Porter Foundation. In 2000, with support from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), the APS began a study of current and past Porter Fellows to gather information on their physiology career paths and their perceptions of the impact of the Fellowship on their careers. This report provides a summary of the study results. |
