Relationship of Iowa Physiological Society (IPS)
to the American Physiological Society (APS)

Although IPS is legally incorporated in Iowa as an independent nonprofit corporation, it is recognized by APS as the Iowa Chapter of APS. APS is our parent society. As such it has been a generous parent, providing us not only with guidance but with startup funds as well as funds for the APS Invited Lectureships at our annual meetings. Both organizations share the goals of furthering all aspects of physiology. Just as these goals are focused at the national level by APS, they are focused at the state level by IPS. Our proximity to the schools plus our association with the Iowa Academy of Science facilitates better focus upon undergraduate and precollege students.

For further information regarding the APS refer to its web page (http://www.the-aps.org) or contact Martin Frank, Executive Director, APS Office, 9650 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814-3991 (Tel: 301-/634-7118; fax: 301-634-8305; e-mail: mfrank@the-aps.org).
