Interviewing Skills

Whether you are looking for a postdoctoral position or a job, the interview is all-important. Depending on how the interview goes, those few hours will determine whether you get offered the position and is crucial to you in deciding whether you want to accept the job.

The APS and the Association of Chairs of Departments of Physiology recommend that trainees understand the importance of and work to develop the following skills:

  1. Skill in preparing for diverse types of interviews
  2. Knowledge of how to conduct oneself at interviews
  3. Knowledge of appropriate post-interview actions
(from the APS/ACDP List of Professional Skills for Physiologists and Trainees)
